Southside Player of the Week: Phillip Sims
Oscar Smith quarterback Phillips Sims is the latest HRVarsity.com Southside Hampton Roads player of the week. The 15-year old sophomore, who just celebrated his first anniversary as a starter, threw for 315 yards and four touchdowns last Friday in a 56-0 rout of King's Fork. Sims and the Tigers' other starters stepped aside at halftime and didn't play in the final two quarters. Sims completed 13 of 19 passes and tossed touchdown strikes of 11, 20, 50 and 53 yards. The Tigers' signal-caller has thrown for 1,353 yards and 15 touchdowns this season, second only to record-setting Casey Turner of Great Bridge. |

Re: Southside Player of the Week: Phillip Sims
Sims numbers could be a lot better had he played the whole game but many of the games the starters were pulled, as where Casey Turner has played all of his games. This young man has a lot of composure and should continue to get better. The Smith JV team has some really good receviers that will be able to step right in and replace the Fantastic Four.
