Boys basketball: Poquoson loses to Courtland
Poquoson loses to Courtland HRvarsity.com staff Luke Sellers scored 16 points and made four 3-pointers to lead Courtland to a 40-34 win over visiting Poquoson in a Region I first-round game near Fredericksburg. Courtland (18-7), which hosts Park View of South Hill on Thursday, outscored the Islanders 17-4 in the fourth quarter. Eric Nixon scored 11 points and Chad Pinder had 10 for Poquoson (18-8). The Islanders led 21-14 at halftime. Poquoson : Chad Pinder 10, Luke Hunter 2, Eric Nixon 11, Justin Bollinger 2, Gene Efrid 7, T. McConnell 2, Garrick Yaksha 0. Totals: 14 2–2 34. Courtland (18–7): Mario McMorris 0, Luke Sellers 16, Ever Aguirre 2, Lamar Giggetts 6, Josh Hairston 7, Avery Green 9, A.J. Sims 0. Totals: 14 5–1040.
