PERRY TIES FOR 15TH IN NIN TRIPLE JUMP - Brandy goes tomorrow in the shot
(LANDOVER, MD) Denbigh's Chaneka Perry went two weeks after placing 7th in the triple jump at the Virginia AAA state meet without any jumping practice, and the rust showed as she fouled on her first two attempts at today's Nike Indoor Nationals.
Perry pulled her form together and hopped, skipped and jumped 36-7 to win her heat and place in a tie for 15th overall at the prestigious meet, held in the shadows of FedEx Field in Landover, Maryland.
Hope blooms for the junior hurdler and jumper as Coach Troy Durio looks to install a jumping pit on the athletic grounds at Denbigh. Chaneka's goal remains at 40 feet.
Tomorrow, Brandy Peat will take her shot at the stars while tossing the eight pound ball against some of the best throwers in the nation. The first throw will commence at 10:30 AM.
