Football: 2 from Kecoughtan head to Ferrum
Ferrum College has added two Kecoughtan football players to its roster: Running back/cornerback Isaiah Sheppard and 300-pound lineman Calvin Ruffin.
Sheppard rushed for 2,188 yards over the last three seasons as the Warriors’ starting tailback, but Kecoughtan coach Glenn Tidwell believes his first look at Ferrum will be at cornerback. Ruffin, who played on both sides of the ball, probably will be a defensive tackle. Ferrum, a member of the USA South, went 5-5 last season. Kecoughtan linebacker Derek Mayo has already signed with Richmond. Tidwell is hopeful that two more of his players will end up playing in colleges at the Division III level.
