Re: STORY: Jamestown 25, Poquoson 20
Why does it matter when the flag is thrown if it is the right call?
I recruit kids to play college ball and visit these message boards often to pick up on stats and possible players to watch. Time and time again I hear nothing but complaints about officials. Having watched games for over 25 years little has changed with the arm chair officials. If you feel like you can do a better job then step up and officiate, if not then cheer for your team and realize that you do not have the ability or the heart of the officials on the field. |

Re: STORY: Jamestown 25, Poquoson 20
It matters, because if an infraction is made, it is the officials job.
It is impressive how you ignored everything else in my reply and picked up on the fact that I mentioned the officiating was not good. Get over it............. As fans of the game we call it like we see it. Not only did I mention the officiating, I also ellaborated on other aspects of this game. I am sorry that you feel that I am "picking on" the officials; however at no time did I blame the JT victory on the officials. In 25 years of watching the game I'm sure you have watched games where an official has made a bad call or didn't make a call at all, and you've probably discussed over a beer with your buds..........Well, sorry there is no beer on this forum, but we will continue to discuss what was good and what was bad in a particular game (just as if we were hanging out and having a beer). JT was coached and played well, PQ played well but made more mistakes, and the officials missed a couple calls (probably on both sides of the ball). If you disaggree with this analogy of the game; watch the tape. Football is a game that will probably never be played perfect and I doubt the officiating will ever be perfect either, but we don't make excuses for the players or the coachs, so what makes the officials so important that everytime they make a mistake someone has to jump to their defense and invite everyone to try it? I don't think I will take up officiating a HS football game anytime soon, but I will continue to watch the game and give my opinion (based only off of the facts). |

Agree to disagree. A good hearty discussion never hurts anyone.

Re: STORY: Jamestown 25, Poquoson 20
I'm glad we can agree to disagree..................man, I need a beer after that, it was like talking cowboys/redskins in the garage. I look forward to tonight's games and the conversation they bring. PQvWH, JTvGR, SFvLF, TBvSH, NKvBR.......It's almost to much to take.
BTW, it's not that I don't want to be an official; I just try to avoid wearing black and white stripes. |
