A multi-year project to replace the bridge that carries Warwick Boulevard over Lake Maury is approaching completion, according to Newport News city spokeswoman Kim Lee.
Lee said in an email that contractors are working this week to installing the curb and gutter along the side of the road and finishing the underlying aggregate base for the road where it approaches from the south. Next week, Lee said they’ll work on grading the surface for the sidewalk.
Contractors will try to install the sidewalk and asphalt for the road the following week, assuming the weather cooperates. On April 30, the city hopes to make the final traffic shift.
Currently, Kim said the project is scheduled to wrap up in May.
