Justin Pierce, who entered the NCAA’s transfer portal last month, has narrowed his choices to three — and one of them is not William and Mary.

Pierce, the Tribe’s second-leading scorer and top rebounder last season as a junior, has already visited Notre Dame. He has trips planned to Michigan and North Carolina before making his decision.

In announcing he was entering the portal on March 16, Pierce said returning to W&M was still an option. But Tuesday, in a Twitter message exchange, he confirmed he will no longer be playing in Williamsburg.

Pierce is scheduled to graduate in May with BBA in finance. As a graduate student, he would be eligible to play immediately.

Pierce, a 6-foot-7 wing from the Chicago area, averaged 14.9 points a game as a junior and was the Tribe’s leading rebounder at 8.9 a game. He also led the team in assists at 4.1 a game.

Pierce is the first of potentially six players with remaining eligibility to leave William and Mary since the dismissal of coach Tony Shaver on March 13.

Matt Milon, Chase Audige, L.J. Owens and Luke Loewe also have entered the transfer portal. Nathan Knight, the Tribe’s leading scorer last season as a junior, has entered the NBA draft process.
