City of Hamptonschools new rule
Do any of you feel the recent rising 8th grader rule will affect balance of talent in high school sports in the city aswell as the academic makeup of each high school?

Re: City of Hamptonschools new rule
You may choose to attend any high school you desire if you are a rising eight grader as long as you reside in Hampton , one must play jv. sports @ your zoned school as an 8th grader but all bets off after that.

Re: City of Hamptonschools new rule
This from Carolyn Bowers of Hampton City Schools:
Previously, if a high school student in any grade was approved to attend a school out of his/her zone, he/she had to wait 365 days before participating in a VHSL sport or activity. The new rule simply removes that restriction for rising 9th graders, who can now begin competing immediately. Those going into the 10th, 11th or 12 grades who are approved for out of zone will still have to wait the 365 before competition. Last edited by Dave Johnson : 05-08-2012 at 02:50 PM. |
