The number one doubles team, Aly and Amy Collins earned the Tidewater District Doubles Title for the second year in a row. Number one singles player, Aly Collins earned the Tidewater District Singles Title. All three titles were won by being undefeated in their district matches. The girls will compete in the Region “A” Team, Doubles and Single Tennis Tournament starting May 29th.

The Lady Blue Devils defeated West Point 9-0 on Friday. In singles, Aly Collins played a super comeback match to win the singles title. Aly lost the first set 3-6 and was down 0-5 in the send set with her opponent only have in to win one more game to defeat Aly. Aly was having an off day early in the match. I told her everybody has off days but you have to find a way to win even when you are not playing well,” said coach/mother LaDonna Crain. “It paid off because Aly is a fighter and found a way to make the tremendous comeback and take the title.” At number two, Amy Collins defeated Kate Beattie with little trouble 6-1, 6-0. Number three, Kasey Lynn Lyerly won 6-2, 6-4 over Jane Hagen. Mallory Hurst playing number four came out strong after recovering from an injury defeating Kate Hudson 6-0, 6-0. At five, Mercedes Wells defeated Delaney beattie 6-4, 6-2. Playing six for the team Lamar Saunders defeated Jordan Waithan 6-0, 6-1. In doubles play at number one, the Collins Twins had little trouble defeating Sheffield and Hagen 6-0, 6-1. At number two, Wells and Hurst won 8-2 against Kate Beattie and Waithan. Number three doubles, Lyerly and Moughon easily defeated Delaney Beattie and Hudson 8-0. In exhibition match, Kate vanEmmerik and Ashley Hudgins won 8-4. “The team has really come together and they are playing very well. I am very lucky to have one of my former players, Chandler Long Rogers, to come back and help me coach. It is also great to have my father, Perk Crain, helping out with the team. They are a great asset to the team,” says LaDonna Crain.
