Enough of the negativism!

Come on, folks, give these guys on the court a break. I just read some of the comments about a couple of these players in Bay Rivers District boys basketball, and they're ridiculous.

I mean, jeez, it's the Christmas season. Show some compassion.

If they made millions of dollars, I could understand the harsh criticism. But these folks don't make Kobe/A-Rod money to take this kind of abuse.

I know you guys might talk trash on the court, but leave it off of this board. Remember the Golden Rule.

We don't mind you saying, "Player A is better than Player B because A has better shooting range and is a better ballhandler," or something like that. Sports is about competition, and somebody's gotta be better than somebody every night you take the floor.

Player A probably appreciates the compliment, and Player B has some extra motivation to improve.

What we can't stand is, "Player B is worthless ... Player B ***** ... Player B is totally overrated" and the like.

If you're Player B, how are you gonna feel?

I've seen study after study saying that playing sports benefits kids and teenagers, not just now but later in life. The more you belittle people, the less fun it is.

And given the problems we have in the world, we need to have a little fun.
