Girls indoor track: Jordan leaves Woodside
Jordan leaves Woodside, moves to Connecticut By Dan Maher | Correspondent The Group AAA track state championships next month have suddenly become a lot more competitive with the surprising departure of former Woodside star Dominique Jordan from the area. A new job opportunity for Jordan’s mother necessitated the family’s recent relocation to Connecticut. Jordan notched state championships in the 300 and 500 meter events in indoor track and added titles in the 200 and 400 during the outdoor championships. Her sensational junior season clearly marked her as the state’s top sprinter and earned her recognition as the Daily Press female track athlete of the year for both the indoor and outdoor seasons. Jordan had hoped to potentially expand her sprinting dominance to the 100 meters in the upcoming outdoor season to present the possibility of five state titles this year. Instead, she recently revealed to Wolverines coach Derrell Johnson the stunning news of her family’s move and offered a tearful goodbye to her teammates. “Honestly, she told me one day and the next day she was gone,” said Johnson. “The kids saw her leave and she was sad. She wanted to stay, but you have to follow your parents.”
