Region I individual girls tennis tournament preview

WHEN: Thursday and Friday.
SCHEDULE: Thursday — Singles quarterfinals, 9 a.m.; singles semis, noon; doubles quarters, 3 p.m.
Friday — Singles final, 9 a.m.; doubles semis, noon; doubles final, 3 p.m.
OUTLOOK: In singles, defending state Group AA champion Tori Ford of Lafayette and Kelly Little of Jamestown seem like good picks to reach the championship match. Ford, a senior, began her dominance at this event last season. Little, buoyed by the confidence of last week's comeback victory over Ford during the Eagles' run to the team title, has a tougher draw. She faces James Monroe's Jordan McDaniel in the first round and probably Bruton's Helen Mittmann in a semifinal. In doubles, the favorites include Ford-Annie Goode, Mittmann-Emily Demeo and Tabb's Haase sisters — senior Sarah and freshman Lena.
