College Entrance Requirements

Does anyone know what the minimum GPA is for a student athlete ( on scholarship) to get into Va Tech vs. the requirment at Virginia? Are they the same? I hear the subject discussed a lot and many persons contend that Tech can admit players that Virginia cannot even talk to because of GPA's. Is this true?

Not a matter of "can not" more a case of "will not". If you want to be technical any D1 school COULD admitt an athlete that has a 2.0 gpa with a 1010 SAT and has the required 16 core courses. That is the NCAA minimum requirement. What a school does after that is solely up to them and UVA has a history of being pretty strict on thier admissions standards even for athletes. So to answer your question....yes, Tech probably admits some athletes that UVA wont even talk to, and yes I am sure it hurts UVA's recruiting. Hope that helps.
