Yvette Lewis advances in Pan Am hurdles
Yvette Lewis advances in Pan Am hurdles By David Squires | dailypress.com Yvette Lewis ran 13.25 seconds Tuesday in the 100-meter hurdles to grab the eighth and final spot in Wednesday's finals in the Pan American Games. The games are being played in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Lewis, a former Denbigh and Menchville star who graduated from Hampton University, was a late addition to the event. She also competes on Friday in her specialty, the triple jump, where she is the reigning NCAA champion outdoors. The top two finishers Tuesday in each of three heats, plus the hurdlers with the next two fastest times, advanced to the 100-hurdles finals. Lewis had a season of athletics eligibility remaining, but opted to turn professional. She also recently hired an agent and is talking to several athletics companies about a promotional deal. She also has an outside shot at competing in the World Championships in August, depending on her marks this week. Last edited by Sonny Dearth : 07-25-2007 at 03:53 PM. |
