The Hampton Heat Rugby Football Club travelled to the 2012 46th Annual Cherry Blossom Rugby Tournament in Fort Washington Maryland. The tournament was attended by 44 high school and college teams from around the country.

The Heat boys team competed in the high school boys division and entered as the underdog as they faced competition from teams from Delaware, New York, Pennsylvania and Canada. The competition was high and the Heat took the pitch Saturday morning as the underdog facing a strong team from Delaware. The Heat came out and battled a victory which lead them to other wins throughout the tournament.

The Heat landed in the finals playing for the 2012 Cherry Blossom High School Rugby Plate Championships. Walking way victorious with a 29-5 win over the fellas from Pennsylvania's State College High School from Happy Valley, Pa. and the Plate title championship.

Congrats to the Heat club for their first tournament win and becoming the first rugby club from the Hampton Roads area to win at Cherry Blossom.
