The second spot will go to either the tournament champion or team that reaches the final against Gloucester. Denbigh and Kecoughtan finished tied for second place, with Denbigh getting the No. 2 seed and Kecoughtan No. 3 by virtue of a tiebreaker based on a preseason draw. Menchville, four-time defending district champ, is the fourth seed but played Gloucester to a 1-0 loss last Thursday. Denbigh and Kecoughtan tied 3-3 during the regular season and a possible semifinal between the two is a matchup to keep an eye on. Gloucester goalkeeper Heidi Lancaster-Taylor and Denbigh midfielder Dani Gunderson are players to watch. Heritage and Phoebus finished tied for sixth place, with Heritage winning a playoff Monday 1-0 to earn the final tournament spot.
TICKETS: $6 for adults, $5 for students, $3 for senior citizens and ages 12-and-under.

Re: Peninsula District Girls Soccer Tournament Preview

Thank you!
This was a capsule written for Wednesday's paper, so that's why it said "today."
I just changed it all to actual dates, sorry our copy for tomorrow going online today got things confused.

Re: Peninsula District Girls Soccer Tournament Preview

It would be nice to recognize BHS in some of these general articles. This is the first time, in a long time that the Girls' team has made it to districts. BHS has really held many of the "power-house" teams to 3 or so goals each game. This is a big deal when the top 4 teams were wiping everyone else up every game. Shoot, BHS even had Kecoughtan 3-1 at halftime (ulitmately KHS came back to win). I think it is great to commend the other teams, but 'come on' the BHS team won 1 game last year and they won 4 this year...with several other games that could have went either way. Please give these girls some credit, they worked very hard this season. Good luck to everyone in districts. Cheers!

Heritage was also a team that took a huge turn this year. There are many teams that are building up in the PD so there are bound to be some changes in the coming seasons. Hang in there BHS, the tides are turning, slowly, but turning!!

See if you can get a BHS student to be one of the Daily Press student reporters and have them do a write up and send it in.... just a thoght.
