2008 Phoebus vs BRD

OK, I need some input. I keep reading how the Yorktown teams took care of the lower half of the PD in scrimmages this year. Last year the Phantoms beat the lower half of the PD by atleast 50 points. Yes the bottom half of the PD is not that good. Here is the burning question, would any of the BRD teams be able to stay on the field with the 08 Phantoms, would they do any better than the bottom half of the PD????

that is my opinion also, we would do better than the bottom of the PD did against Phoebus, but would still be blown out. That gets to my point, it is great that the BRD did well against the bottom of the PD in scrimmages this year, but don't throw a party yet. I think that the Yorktown teams will have a tougher time against the top of the BRD, than they did against the bottom of the PD. Because they beat a weaker PD team in a scimmage does not crown them BRD champs. Good job to them, but we will see how it pans out.

I agree with the whole Phoebus thing, but I don't think there might have been only about three or four teams that could've given them a run last year; Lake Taylor obvious, Oscar Smith, Ocean Lakes, and maybe the team Oscar Smith played in the semi finals. Thats about it throughout the state. But back the your point, and I think it's a great confidence builder to play some of the lower level teams in the PD. Maybe if they venture up to maybe a Kecoughtan or Bethel, it would really test them, and probably be some of the toughest talent that they'll see all year. But big ups to those teams that aren't scared to venture up to make their team more prepared for the season.

Re: 2008 Phoebus vs BRD

Agree with all these points. For my part, I didn't see Oscar Smith except for the televised state championship game. I did see Phoebus, and WOW! I'm not kidding when I say I would have paid $50 to have seen a Phoebus-Oscar Smith game at the end of last season.
As to a score between Phoebus and any BRD team last year, 42-7 is a good pick, but I still say the only way the BRD team scores is if Phoebus' first team defense takes a nap on a play or they're playing their second team. Hands down the best High School defense I've ever seen.
On to 2009!! Interested to see if Phoebus can reload considering the studs they lost to graduation.

Reloading isn't a problem, the kid that's breaking through the line for the long touchdown wasn't even allowed to play last year. Believe me, they have a load of talent that's waiting to show and prove to the PD that loosing those players won't stop their hunger. They have a chip on their shoulders because a lot of people feel they can't win without the big three that left last year.

Re: 2008 Phoebus vs BRD

you could put a BRD all star team together from last year and still they would lose to the 08 Phantoms by 50+ points
