Bonus items from Denbigh-Heritage
* The impending darkness on Thursday night led to a decision to move Friday's game between Menchville and Warwick up to 5 p.m. It was quite dark by the third quarter, and there was discussion in the press box about whether they could get the entire game in. The lights at Todd Stadium currently stand in front of the stands, a placement made necessary by the low quality of stadium lighting when the stadium was built. Due to improvements in lighting technology, the lights are being moved behind the stands...and the power to the poles has already been cut.
* Denbigh punter Jordan Jenkins was under heavy pressure every time he punted, and had some jitters on his first two attempts as he averaged just 12.5 yards per kick. But he overcame it on his third one to boot a 47-yarder and pin Heritage on its own 6-yard-line. * Heritage DL Rasheen Person leveled some big hits on the night. He had at least five tackles, including one for a loss and a sack. He leveled one particularly crushing hit in the fourth quarter, catching a Denbigh runner as he cut back and decleating him. * Denbigh LB DeAndre Ford had at least six tackles, including two for a loss, and tracked several plays down the line to be the man who finished them with a big hit. * Heritage DL Roget Maldonado had four tackles, three for a loss. * Denbigh DL Nick Swanson had a great stat line: one fumble recovery, two batted passes, a tackle for loss and three tackles overall. * Heritage KR/WR/DB Adore Pope averaged 26 yards on two returns. |

Re: Bonus items from Denbigh-Heritage
Good stuff, Chris! Hey, did it ever get to the point where fans drove their cars and trucks to the edge of the field and turned their lights on?

Re: Bonus items from Denbigh-Heritage
No, but it certainly would've helped! Maybe they should've called the folks at Hampton Christian and asked to borrow the portable light towers they have at their field.
It was a bit surreal sitting in the well-lit press box and looking out into the abyss the field seemed to be in. |
