Bay Rivers?

I noticed there hasn't been much talk about the Bay Rivers District.

Any standouts?

Re: Bay Rivers?

Standouts? I see Mom threw out a few names, but the fact is that BRD volleyball is very weak this year, and THAT might explain the lack of conversation.

Re: Bay Rivers?

depends on your definition of a standout....these girls are frequently listed in the box scores as standouts...and their stats prove that they are...even if you think the brd is weak

Re: Bay Rivers?

I personally don't think the BRD is weak this year, in fact, I think the BRD has many strong standouts this year.

Morgan Kline from Grafton - Junior from Grafton and a strong and very smart player

Krista Hughes - Senior at Jamestown, another very strong player, Jamestown setters make every attempt to set her all the way around

Bailey Lowenhaupt - Lafayette, senior OH...another strong and smart hitter...another hitter setters like to hit in the front and back rows

Hannah Coleman - Senior OH for Poquoson, has an incredible line shot and strong as an ox. Can quickly change up for a hard cross shot at the drop of a hat.

Alex Kortenhoeven - York MB, Senior. Kortenhoeven, in my opinion, is the strongest middle hitter I've seen so far this season in the BRD and I'm not partial

I think the BRD is just young this year. Lots of up and coming underclassmen. Many teams lost a lot of seniors last year and we are rebuilding. I have 6 sophomores and a freshman on my Varsity team this year (3 of my sophomores are starters on a regular basis).

Rebuilding, in my opinion, does not equal weak...

Re: Bay Rivers?

"these girls are frequently listed in the box scores as standouts"

lets see, isn't is very unusual for the setter to get the highest number of assists, and the primary hitter (BRD, usually one per team) get the highest number of kills. It's not unusual for key offensive or defensive players on any team to get the recognition, but having that key position does not make them a standout. In any High School sport, when I think standout, I think state ranking on either individual players or the team as a whole.

BRD had MANY fantastic successes in many sports last year and that will surely continue and grow, but only time will tell how far BRD volleyball will go post season this year, or who will sign where --- after it is over, some predictions will hold, and some will fall.
