Game Highlights
Lafayette pulled out the extra inning victory in a see-saw game that featured 17 runs, 28 hits, 12 errors, and a play at the plate in the bottom of the 7th inning. Lafayette quickly jumped on Warhill starter Tom Gill for 4 runs in the first inning. Zach Warring and Tanner Sheldon started the game with singles and Macon Heikes collected 2 of his 4 RBI for the game with a double to RF. Luke Van Bergen then grounded to the pitcher who threw wildly to Third Base trying to get Heikes. The errant throw allowed Heikes to score and sent Van Bergen to Second. Dexter McClure picked up an RBI with a hard shot to Right Center, but was caught trying to advance to Second on the throw home with a nice play by Warhill First Baseman Trevor Otey. Warhill quickly responded in the Second inning with 4 runs of there own. With one out Tom Gill singled up the middle, stole Second, and advanced to Third on a WP. Kyle Lung singled him Home with the first of his 4 hits on the day. Two WPs later Lung was on Third. Otey singled up the middle , scoring Lung. With two outs Chris Aldridge, who is having a solid season for Warhill, singled to RC scoring Otey. Aldridge scored on a Sean Diven single two batters later to tie the game at 4, after sending 10 men to the plate in the Second inning. Lafayette added another run in the Third when Adam Emerson doubled home Macon Heikes, who reached on a single. Warhill scored twice in their half of the Third on 3 Lafayette errors, another single by Aldridge, and a well placed sac bunt by Jacob Beckwood. With Warhill leading 6-5 heading into the fifth inning, Lafayette picked up two unearned runs when Van Bergen singled home Macon Heikes, and Joey Gibbons hit a sac fly scoring Emerson. Both reached on errors. Warhill tied the game in the bottom of the 5th inning when Lung singled, advanced to Second on an error, and to Third on another nice sacrifice bunt by Beckwood. He scored the tying run on another Lafayette error. Warhill had a tremendous opportunity to win the game in the bottom of the 7th when Lung once again singled and Otey walked to put runners on First and Second with nobody out. Adam Emerson (pitcher) then made a tremendous catch on a ball bunted over his head that looked like it may drop in for a single. Emerson caught the ball diving toward the Second Base bag and the runners had to retreat. Aldridge then singled hard to LF where Warring charged hard, made a nice one hop throw to Lafayette catcher Anthony Pietromonaco, who placed the tag on Lung to save the game for Lafayette. Aldridge was caught stealing to end the threat. Lafayette started the 9th inning with consecutive singles by Warring and Sheldon. They both advanced on a double steal. Heikes, then singled up the middle scoring both Warring and Sheldon. Heikes later scored on a clutch two-out hit by Gibbons, who was caught stealing to end the inning. Gibbons allowed a one-out double to Lung, who was left stranded to end the game. Both Gibbons and Warhill's Otey pitched excellent in relief. Lafayette's Zach Warring made a great diving catch in the bottom of the first on a shot hit by Michael Basilico. The win gave Lafayette a much needed lift and pushed their record to 3-8, dropping Warhill to 6-4-1.

Thanks for another great game review. I wish we could clone you and send you to all the games since we aren't getting game reviews in the DP anymore. I appreciate you taking the time to write up the highlights of the games you go to. That is a great use of this site, and fun for parents, players and other fans to read. Great job!
