Green Run names new football coach
From the Virginia Beach schools ...
Effective with the start of the 2007-2008 school year, Shawn Wilson will serve as Green Run High School’s new head football coach. With twelve years of coaching experience, Wilson comes to Green Run High after spending four years as Kempsville High’s offensive coordinator and defensive backs coach. In addition to coaching football at Kempsville High, Wilson previously served on the football coaching staff at three other Beach District high schools: Bayside, Princess Anne, and Cox.
During his coaching career, Wilson also held the position of offensive coordinator and defensive backs coach at Woodrow Wilson High School in Portsmouth, Virginia for two years. While serving on the football coaching staff at Woodrow Wilson High, Wilson also held the position of head track and field coach for the girls track team. Since the beginning of his football coaching career in 1994, Wilson proudly coached eighteen student athletes who earned college scholarships.
In addition to serving as head football coach at Green Run High, Wilson will also serve as a special education teacher. A 1991 graduate of Bayside High School (Virginia Beach City Public Schools), Wilson holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, health education from Norfolk State University in Norfolk, Virginia and attended the University of Florida, in Gainesville, Florida, on a football scholarship from 1992-1994.
