Bruton-Poquoson. No 3-way tie here. Poq is a playing like they are on a mission to face JM who spanked Eastern View last night. I hope they win out so I can watch that one on Poq home field Thanksgiving weekend. Who does Poq have left (I think Tabb, Smithfield & NK)??? I don't see many problems there except maybe Smithfield's athleticism if they can put it together.
Smithfield-Lafayette. Lafayette still in playoff race & its going to be a HUGE game against Grafton coming up. Winner of that game will probably make it in, loser is probably out. The OT loss to Bruton may come back to haunt the Rams later. I would love to see Wheeler in the playoffs especially if this might be his last year (according to some rumors). Funny how I don't hear those Ram fans much this year about the pitiful coaching staff, same w/ Poq. Warhill-York. Wow, huge surprise here. York played some pretty good D against a team that has put up a bunch of points this year. I didn't see this one coming (at least not by that score). Good job coach & York. If the D continues to improve & the QB is back next year (Johnston, I think he's a JR) then watch out. Tabb-Jamestown. Jamestown unable to stop Tabb. Tabb getting better but stud LB Haislip is rumored to have gotten hurt late. That would be a huge loss for the districts best LB (no doubt). If any team had a few Haislip's than coaches wouldn't have to coach, that kid has played like an animal for several year. J-Town looks young, heard they had a couple of freshmen & 3 or 4 sophmores starting on D last night b/c of injuries. It can only help in the long run. New Kent-Grafton. Will be answered tonight. Grafton probably wins big but Storm Parker (who might be the best RB in the district) will still get his. Grafton will want revenge for last year's loss & can't afford any slip up. |

Re: Bay Rivers Football Week 7: Early questions and thoughts
Grafton should not have a problem with Smithfield unless their recent injuries play a part as the Smithfield defense is not up to par this year and their starting QB went out with a leg/knee injury in the 2nd Half of the Lafayette game with assistance to get off the field.
This year with Lafayette the pass is at least now part of the play book and a few other creative plays have also crept in. This has lead to a more potent offense after few years of 7 points and done. Defense still has work to get on the same level as the offense. But at least 7 games into the season they are in the hunt for the playoffs- the past two years it was over. I have no special pipeline to know if Wheeler comes back or not If not, he has done Lafayette well and we all appreciate that. I would then hope that Andy Linn would then get his shot at the top as he deserves it and gives Lafayette continuity in the program. |
