Re: Marty's Bay Rivers District Football Picks: Week 10

The Lafayette defense had put together a better defensive effort than 21 points by a banged up Jamestown team going into the playoffs. I would like to see one decent defensive effort in the absence of of very much defense the past few weeks.

Re: Marty's Bay Rivers District Football Picks: Week 10

ORK (4-5, 4-4) VS. GRAFTON (7-2, 6-2)
Shocker of the week: York gives up over 400 yards of offense. Grafton wins big in this one b/c their D-F is underated. Grafton 38-14.

JAMESTOWN (2-7, 1-7) VS. LAFAYETTE (6-3, 5-3)
Rivalry game that depends on how many injuries J-town still has. If they can't play their starters that Lafayette will give the young Eagles a lot to gain experience & learn from. Do they stack the box or double #88? The other question is will Lafayette be able to stop anyone. Defenses are down this year in the BRD & Lafayette isn't immune. J-town can score but it will come back to injuries & youth again. Lafayette 35-Jamestown 21

POQUOSON (8-1, 8-0) AT SMITHFIELD (6-3, 5-3)
Poq wins easily as Smithfield has the athletes but the injury bug has caught up with them too. Smithfield is also playing a lot of young guys & gave up a ton of yards last week against Jamestown. Poqouson will keep the Time of possession in their favor & be able to tackle the big boys from the Smithfield backfield.
Poq 35 - Smithfield 12

TABB (3-6, 3-5) AT BRUTON (7-2, 6-2)
Bruton wins this one by taking care of the football. They are getting ready to take on regional favorite JM next week & will use this game as a tune up. Tabb needs to control the ball to keep this one close. Bruton 34 Tabb 20

WARHILL (2-7, 1-7) AT NEW KENT (1-8, 1-7)
NK gets revenge for giving Warhill their 1st ever win in the district. Warhill is unable to stop the Storm. Warhill gets stopped late in the fourth & NK ends the season on a high note. NK 34 Warhill 28
THE PICK: New Kent 26, Warhill 21.
