whats up with this D3/ D4 ****?

why does the VHSL see the need to split the "A" classifcations up even more for just football? I mean either do this for all sports or not at all. Did they ever think that a district could have 2 state champions, for example smithfield and southampton could both be the best in VA last year even though southampton beat us. It'd only add 1 extra week to the schedule. Also lets say Tabb goes 7-3 and misses the playoffs because of power points yet Poquoson who lost to Tabb and was 6-4 makes it off power points. Is this fair, I think not. And dont give me the size of the school BS. these schools are equal enough size to compete for the same district titles they should be able to compete for the same state titles.

In some states in some sports they dont even split up states in the AAA, AA, and A levels. If you are a state champion, then you are literally the state champion.

haha dang thatd be nice too but i dont think the suurys or franklins would stand a chance against the phebous or hamptons shoot i dont tink anyone really stands a chance against them but them selves. i heard they have the numbers to play AA but hampton makes all their schools play AAA. can you imagine if they were in the BRD there wouldnt be a debate over smithfield or tabb or jtown or whoever itd be hands down. this aint the AAA elitest talk i think alot of the brd schools could stand a chance against many of the pd's but when you got perenial state champs like the hampton and pheobus with the coaches and talent level they have.

"why does the VHSL see the need to split the A classifcations up even more for just football? "

First, football has been split for over 20 years now in all 3 Groups - A, AA & AAA. It's BASKETBALL that's now going to split, and the VHSL didn't do it - the Group A administrators voted on and approved it after the VHSL told them they could if they wanted to, but we're not going to make the whole state do it. And this wasn't done so a District could possibly have 2 state champs - it was done to give the smaller schools a better chance.

"i heard they have the numbers to play AA but hampton makes all their schools play AAA"

The cut-off number for AA this year is 1582. The only PD school that is "playing up" is Phoebus. Meanwhile, the SE has 3 and the Eastern has 4.

The power point system is by no means perfect but i certainly think it is a much better system than just integrating D3 and D4. A good example would be D3 schools playing the big D4 schools like Salem, Harrisonburg, etc. for a state title. That would be nonsense.
