Denbigh’s Jaymes Brooks and Terrence Riggins finished 1-2 in the discus in the MileStat.com Elite Track Gala last weekend in Richmond. Brooks threw 161-3 and Ribbins 158-11. That reversed their showing the week before in the Group AAA state meet, when Riggins edged out Brooks.
Brooks also finished second in the shot with a 55-3 throw. Frede Spellman of Oscar Smith went 55-4 ½ on his last throw to edge out the Virginia Tech football signee. Lakisha Carney was second in the girls discus (128-11) and fifth in the shot (37-2½). Jamestown’s Andrew Mearns finished second in the boys 2,000-meter steeplechase.
