Re: Menchville beats Hampton

Shields and Artis are two good coaches Artis was coach at Smithfield for a season or two and would have really done a great job here and i have heard myself from around the community that Coach K had a ready made team the last two years with alot of JR last year and they are Sr this year one of my co worker sons played for Coach K at the end of his days at HHS and i went to a couple of his games and wasnt impress but after this group of hard nose tough players leave we will see what happens in the next few years.

Rice all that best coach in the district stuff, you tell me thsi what makes him the best coach in the district and please have a good answer!!
I watch his teams play. I watch them play on ball defense. I watch them use screens. I watch the fundamental parts of the game. As far as coaching players, Coach K does a great job of teaching his kids the game. They do not have one star, but they all gel and play the game together. That is coaching. They play as one unit. That is coaching philosophy playing itself out on the court. Coach Brower has always had Players. Kevin Swann. Ronald Curry. Damon Bacote. Gannon Baker-Shooting 3's with either hand(I guess Coach Brower taught him how to do that, right). Coach Brower is a great coach. Give each coach the same players and I think Coach K wins. Kecoughtans coach is good too.

I saw his games in the 80's up close and personal. His teams were always prepared and played smart. "Ready Made?" What does that mean? Not one D1 scholarship among those seniors, right? Not One. What does ready made mean? Artis and Shields have been training these kids for 3-4 years and not one of them will get a D1 scholarship? I think that says it all. All of them will be going pro in something other than basketball.

Ready made means they already knew how to play together...if you see them play they dont run anythang...but he has players how have played together and they play hard because they have something to prove...remember they all came from other schools were they were not playin much...so thats why they play hard..

Now again I ask why are NONE of them gettin D1 looks...Trey Brown is one of the most skilled players in the PD and there are others that could play D2 and D3 ball..but again..the great 400 win coach gets who in school? Last I know was Lew who went to Radford...and please dont say Batten cause he got that offer durin AAU wit Boo not cause of K @ HHS..so again I say is it just about wins? It should be about not pro ball..it should be about puttin kids in the right position to get a free education...For example I remember Coach Rob at Heritage won 3 games in two seasons but he put 6 kids in school on fb money during that time..(s/n dont know why he cant get another coaching job)

Re: Menchville beats Hampton

rice thats your own personal feelings, that none of the guys will go D1, and thats cool. Are you a D1 coach, you would look real silly if one of them do get a D1 scholarship. I thought maybe a senior member as yourself would like to see one of theses kidds get a scholarship, but reading your writing, I guess you do not and thats cool too. I understand that you like coach k and you respect him, that's all good, but remember you have your opinion and others have their. By the sound of your comment, you are alittle mad, do not these comments affect you like this, they are only opinions. jsut pray that the young men get one! you do not know if one of those guys will go D1 and whether they have people looking at them. I guess training a player equals to them getting a D1 scholarship. Hey the coach shields and artis guy training the kids is a good thing, because it helped the young men. I thought training players is to get them better and by the look of it, these young men has got a whole lot better. I have been a fan of the PD for awhile and these young men have got better, but I guess this is your first time watchging these guys, because if you have been around the game and around people in thsi area, they would tell you that these young men games have got better. The kids deserve the credit, not the people who worked them out, even if they go D2 thats a accomplishement or even if they get any money for school. I guess you feel that it's just about them getting D1 scholarship, i guess your dumb comment is based around them getting a d1 scholarship. Continue to be a coach k fan, trust me I have no problem with it, I just told you who I seen coaching the games and I guess with the other comments from people, that made you a little upset. You said what you felt and believe me it's ok with me Hey! it's ok, it is just some good basketball talk to me, I never take it personal! If anything you should want these young men to get scholarships, then again maybe you do not!

If you could see me laughing after I write and read each of these inputs whether it is about Phoebus football or pd basketball, you would know I don't take this personally. This is my opinion. Yours in your opinion. When I write a couple of sentences and you write back thick paragraphs, I am asking who is more emotional? My point is that Coach K has been doing this for decades. All of a sudden now there is some puppet master in the stands pulling the strings. So Coach K never could coach and this guy has been sitting in the stands at all of his different programs for 30 years pulling strings? It sounds ridiculous.
