Jamestown's coach Sneddon resigns

Jamestown's Sneddon resigns

Jamestown boys soccer coach Charles Sneddon has resigned and will coach Poquoson's JV team next season to be closer to his home and family there, he said Wednesday.

Sneddon, a former Menchville High and Christopher Newport player, coached the Eagles to a 112-30-6 record in the past eight seasons.

During that span, Jamestown won four Bay Rivers District championships and made four state Group AA tournament appearances, which included the 2001 state title. This past season, the Eagles finished 18-2 and lost in the state semifinals.

Sneddon, 36, had coaching stints at Gloucester and Menchville in the early 1990s and coached Poquoson in 1997, when the Islanders went 13-3-2 and won the Bay Rivers tournament. He then started teaching at Jamestown and became the Eagles' varsity head coach in 2000.
