2006: 7-3 overall, 7-2 in the Bay Rivers District.

SCHOOL COLORS: Red, navy and silver.
SCHOOL PHONE: 898-0530.
WEB SITE: http://yorkcountyschools.org/ghs/
HOME STADIUM: Bailey Field at York High.
LAST YEAR IN PLAYOFFS: 2005.
FAMOUS ALUMS: Robert Poutier, David Poutier, Phillip Thaxton.

KEY RETURNING PLAYERS
Player Yr Pos H/W

Sean Downing Sr. QB 5-11/185
Keith Person Sr. OL/DL 6-2/245
Jake North Sr. OL/DE 6-1/245
Brad Cibrin Jr. RB/S 6-2/185
Kyle Pelchy Sr. RB/LB 5-11/200
John Bayse Sr. LB 6-0/190

STANDOUTS
Offensive linemen Keith Persons, Michael Padgett, Jake North, Steven Mishkel and Ryan Larwa are all capable of protecting quarterback Sean Downing and opening holes for Kyle Pelchy. The Clippers will depend on their beefy front five and Downing and Pelchy to lead them.

OFFENSIVE OVERVIEW
First-year coach Kevin Montini is excited about the offense, which will run multiple formations, because of the offensive line, which has an average height of 6-1 and weight of 245 pounds. Downing will have plenty of options in the backfield with Pelchy, Brad Cibrin and three other capable backs.

DEFENSIVE OVERVIEW
The Clippers return nine starters from last year’s defense, which gave up 274 yards of total offense and 23 points per game. Montini said that a lot of that came from giving up big plays through their first three games, all losses. Linebackers Pelchy and John Bayse along with defensive linemen North and Person will lead the defense, which will run a 4-4 set.

OUTLOOK
Montini makes no bones about it, he’s “in it to win it,” and thinks that the Clippers have what it takes to do just that. With the size and experience of their offensive line, the Clippers should be near the top of the district. But this is Grafton’s first year without a big-play star like David Poutier, Phillip Thaxton or Darrieus Ramsey. How will they adjust to that?
