Isle of Wight 50, Hampton Christian 13

Isle of Wight breezes to 50-13 victory
Staff story

Quarterback Rusty Brake ran for three touchdowns and passed for another as Isle of Wight Academy, the defending Division 3 state private school champions, rolled past Hampton Christian in a non-conference game.

The Chargers (2-0) took a 40-0 lead at halftime before Hampton Christian’s Ernest Holden ran the second-half kickoff back 77 yards.

Isle of Wight intercepted five passes, including one by Kevin King, who returned it 65 yards for a touchdown. King also caught a 30-yard scoring pass form Brake.

The Chargers also held Hampton Christian to minus-seven yards rushing.

Re: Isle of Wight 50, Hampton Christian 13

Does anyone know how many yards passing the QB #12 for Hampton Christian had in the game when they finally put him in? I know that he was the main source of offense and led the Warriors to there only other score.

Small thing, Lynn, but IWA won the D3 championship last year.

Although football used to be reversed to all the other VISAA sports, VISAA football realigned to fit along NCAA-type divisions (smalls in III, mids in II, bigs in I) at the beginning of last season.
