Bayside news and notes
Kicker issues
If it seemed odd for Bayside to go for a two-point conversion every time they scored in Friday night's 19-12 loss at Salem, there was good reason.
The Marlins were without their place kicker, Scott Celec.
"His ankle popped in practice this week," coach Darnell Moore said. "It should be a week or two, but obviously, it changed our gameplan after scoring."
Mike Satterwhite handled the punting duties for Bayside.
Manuel to visit Florida State again
Senior quarterback E.J. Manuel, who in June verbally committed to Florida State, will travel to Tallahassee for the Florida State-Miami game.
Manuel, the top-rated pro-style quarterback at Rivals.com, has struggled the past two games. Friday night, he threw for just 72 yards and an interception against a bend-but-don't-break Sun Devils defense.
Against Ocean Lakes, he threw for just 124 yards and three interceptions. His Marlins are 1-2, but Manuel isn't worried.
"We'll be fine," he said. "I think we're still an 8-2 team. We'll right the ship."
