STORY: No profanity in NC?
No profanity in North Carolina? From the Charlotte Observer: High school athletes who use profanity during games could cost their schools several hundred dollars. Charlie Adams, executive director of the N.C. High School Athletic Association, said he plans to push a zero tolerance policy for profanity to the NCHSAA Board of Directors to vote on at their winter meetings. If it passes, Adams said he expects to levy fines next fall against schools whose athletes violate the language policy. "We're one of the very few states that doesn't have a zero tolerance," Adams said Monday during a break in the annual Region VI meeting of athletics directors, principals and superintendents at Charlotte's Ovens Auditorium. "Other states that have done it have cut down on profanity drastically." Adams said he's seen fines ranging from $100 to $250 per violation levied by other states. He said, for now, North Carolina would not also punish the offender with, say, a game suspension. But he said it's something the NCHSAA might consider. = = = = Your thoughts ..................
