Re: Who Are Some Players To Watch For In The Pd????
I think you should be talking about what teams to look out for. Field hockey is a team sport and it takes the entire team to win. You can see if you look at scores in the paper what players are doing all the scoring. But what you don`t see is the great defense that is being played stopping the opposing team from scoring. If I had to pick the surprise team of the district this year I would choose Warwick .Their record is something like 6-1. Who would of thought. Warwick whom has gained peninsula attention in the past few years as having a great softball team is looking at one of their best seasons for field hockey. They have quite a few softball players on the field hockey team that are outstanding two sport athletes and making a contributing impact. Bethel has improved their field program since their 1st year a few seasons ago. They will be good for a long time. And you aways expect to see the usual Gloucester, Kecoughtan and Menchville at the top of the district.Woodside and Denbigh will probably be in the running along with Warwick for the 4th, 5th and 6th spots. But
don`t count Hampton out of the district tournament race because they are looking pretty tough.. If they can hold it together the entire game they will have a chance. I see a upset in the making very soon. They may be upsetting someone very soon.I think the coaches will have some tough voting decisions when it comes to All District selections . I think you will see some new names. |

Re: Who Are Some Players To Watch For In The Pd????
Yes I do agree that Field Hockey is a team sport, but their are some players that do shine that also need to be recognized as well. As for Warwick, Atkins and King are great players and will be missed next year. For Kecoughtan, Chang, Applin and Pabst are players to watch. Woodside has two great players that stand out, I think their names are Hofer and Koehling. Hofer plays forward and is very quick and Koehlling is on defense, she is very strong. Bethel has Bias and Bradsher. Menchville has Staples and Snider. Good Luck to ALL in the PD!
