Boyd, Evans lead Phoebus' victory

GLOUCESTER — Phoebus warmed up for its annual showdown with Hampton by running past Gloucester Friday night.

Tajh Boyd threw four touchdown passes and Reid Evans caught three of them as the Phantoms stayed unbeaten with a 49-10 victory.

Boyd’s 175 yards passing lifted him over the 1,000-yard mark.
He now has passed for 1,035 yards and 13 touchdowns.

The Phantoms had built a 21-0 lead in the second quarter before Gloucester mounted a brief comeback.

Tommy Reamon Jr. threw a 52-yard touchdown pass to Jerry Washington, then R.C. Williams kicked a 22-yard field goal as the half ended.

But Phoebus dominated the second half, scoring three three times in the third quarter to invoke the running clock rule.
Phoebus amassed 381 yards of offense, including 175 yards passing by Boyd and 186 rushing. Shawne Alston led the running with 15 carries for 119 yards and a touchdown.

Evans, the Peninsula District’s top receiver, caught 7 passes for 128 yards. He now has 663 yards in receptions
Reamon completed 8 of 17 passes for 174 yards.

Phoebus had two long runs called back because of penalties. Rasheed Clark's 81-yard blocked punt and Colby Goodwyn’s 90-yard run both were nullified.


