Thursday's Peninsula District game

Thursday's Peninsula District game

Phoebus (8-0, 7-0) vs. Kecoughtan (2-6, 2-5)

WHEN: 7 p.m.

WHERE: Darling Stadium.

THE OFFENSES: The Phantoms are leading the district in scoring (41.6 ppg), passing yards (165.5 pg) and total yards (357.1 pg). QB Tajh Boyd is completing 68% of his passes and has thrown for 16 TDs with only 4 INTs. The Warriors have struggled all season to put points on the board. Their season-high is 14.

THE DEFENSES: Phoebus had some focus issues early on, but things have gotten a lot better lately. In their last two games, the Phantoms have allowed no points and 168 yards. Kecoughtan’s ‘D’ plays awfully hard and gets results, but eventually it wears down because the Warriors’ offense doesn’t provide any help.

THE STORYLINES: Undefeated, in first place and No. 1 in the Eastern Region Division 5 ratings, Phoebus is cruising. Coach Bill Dee wants his team to remain sharp, and if last week’s 66-0 skunking of Menchville is any indication, no worries there. Kecoughtan will hang around a while — like last week, when it went into halftime against Hampton tied 0-0 — but doesn’t have nearly enough firepower to make a game of it.

Your pick: Phoebus (79.6 on HRVarsity.com).

Our pick: Phoebus

Re: Thursday's Peninsula District game

The team that has the least to lose has the most to gain. PHS should be ready cause KHS is going to be pulling out all the stops in this one. Maybe, maybe not an upset for KHS but I hope that they can at least keep it close to the end.
