Peninsula District boys season

Does anybody want to start commenting on Friday's PD openers?
Here's the schedule:
Bethel at Heritage
Denbigh at Woodside
Hampton at Gloucester
Kecoughtan at Phoebus
Menchville at Warwick

Games that should be evenly contested: Woodside v. Denbigh (two recurrent middle-of-the-pack teams), Menchville v. Warwick (two of the districts top teams). The rest are, based on precedent, pretty lopsided odds.

Re: Peninsula District boys season

The top three teams in the PD are Warwick, Menchville and Kecoughtan. A sleeper team to watch out for is Bethel. Denbigh may be struggling but Mr. Ditmar is an exceptional coach and will always put a workhorse of a team on the field. Don't know much about Woodside and Heritage. Phoebus will hustle, but not sure about their coach. Hampton's had some trouble with getting players out, so not much to report on them either. Gloucester is very young and rebuilding team. In the next couple of years they will be an up and comer.

Good luck to all the teams in the district.

Menchville and Warwick are going to see each other again for 1st place in the districk ill tell you that. Sense the first districked game ended in a tie on friday. Why do they make us play each other first time every season?

Woodside may have had a loss friday against Denbigh, but they are certainly the much better team. Once the district gets going, Woodside has the potential to pull through and make it into the top 4.

mhswizard,
I've already addressed this on another thread, but I'm still befuddled as to how you can say that both Menchville and Warwick are going to meet each other again for the district title? Have you even seen other district opponents? If so, what is your take on KHS? I'd love to hear this.

Re: Peninsula District boys season

To leave Kecoughtan out of the top is crazy, they are stought. Coming off a season were they should have one the first game at regionals last year and still have alot of the kids back from that team is crazy not the mention them. Zach Finn wasn't all that for them last year, Slezack ( sorry if it is misspelled ) was and still is the heart beat of the team. Warwick will be good, don't get me wrong and I am not a Kecoughtan fan at all but I have to call it like I see it. Woodside will not compete for the district this year. They have a good squad of Juniors on the team this year and maybe can compete next year, the only question about them is heart. Are they a team to compete or are they happy to be there? They have had talent in the past but can not seem to live up to it. Heritage will suprise you this year. They were a descent squad last year and have a good coach with alot of patience to teach the younger players how to play the game. Menchville will be competive as usual, but can they finish the season out. Coach Ditmer is an awesome guy, he can get more out of guys than any coach in the district. He understands how the game should be played.
