Re: Indoor track: First-day Eastern Region meet results

Behind a strong performance from Ermesha Fair, who placed first in the long jump (17-04.25), and triple jump (37-07.5), Western Branch has jumped to an early lead on the girls side of the Eastern Region championships. Currently, the Bruins 46.5 points outdistance second place Denbigh (22 points).
On the boys side, WB's Jeffrey Artis hopped, skipped, and jumped 46-7 to win the triple jump, and the Bruins boys 4x800 also earned gold with an 8:08.4 clocking. However, on this chilly day, Oscar Smith's Wesley Smith managed a 23-7 long jump to win, while teammate Frede Spellman tossed the shotput 57-10 to win easily, leading to a tie for first between the two teams with 24 points. Lakeland's Chris Copeland won the high jump with a 6'8" leap, and Allen Kelly from King's Fork won the pole vault with an impressive 14'6" effort.
The meet will continue at Todd Stadium on Monday with all running finals. Starting time is 11:30.
