Ashae Burnett had 14 points and 14 rebounds as top-seeded Middlesex overcame some sloppiness to defeat No. 5 Colonial Beach 46-39 in a Tidewater District tournament semifinal in Saluda. The Chargers will play second-seeded Mathews for the championship at 6:30 Saturday night in King William's gym.
Sherita Burse and Kiersten Baylor netted 10 points apiece for Middlesex (18-4), which has won all 11 games it has played against Tidewater opposition. Katrina Reed added seven assists. The Drifters' Tianna Payton led all scorers with 20 points and also made several steals.
