Number 20 is right on it. In the PD basketball is everything and they use these magnet schools as a way around getting girls into the school. You just pay attention to the teams and you'll see.

With all due respect, I think you need to do your research first before you question someones views. So far every post on her has been accurate, these girls left Menchville b/c someone was in their ear telling them come to Heritage and be part of something special, point blank. So we tell our kids and players on any level aside from the pros, that they are a student(first)-athlete(second). So, if that's the case, why didn't they get in the magnet at Heritage coming out of middle school? Or why not after their freshman year? Why is it not until the summer of their junior years do they leave? Look, I'm not sure why anyone is suprised or even wondering if this is the case, because it is, they left for basketball reasons. Girls basketball has become notorious for players transferring, not sure why it isn't that common in boys ball, probably because there is no one team that establishes themselves as a perennial powerhouse. But, Hampton does, and Heritage in on the verge of doing. Isn't it a little odd that Warwick happens to lose it's two best players two years in a row to Hampton. Not many people realize this, but the girl that hit the winning shot in the title game for Hampton last year, she was at warwick the previous 3 years of her high school career. Not to mention their center Lakita Hicks, she was at Warwick as well. Some may say conincidence, they lose their D1 center (Evelyn Lewis) to graduation, and they end up with a very solid center, hmmmmm, just makes you think. And what about this new sensational soph they have (Debbie Smith), she was the best player in her league in AA ball as a freshman, now she ends up at Hampton. Not bitter or hating on Hampton or Heritage, it's just obvious how they do things, and if it's legal, more power to them, and they will continue to win and continue to dominate for many more years to come.

Maybe not a magnet school program but very solid College Preparatory and Honors programs no less. Just a thought. Warwick has a pretty nice IB program that both could have applied for, and might have been just a little closer to home if they didn't want to drive so far down Jefferson. Guess you gotta do what you gotta do.

Good luck to these young ladies as they continue on in a quest for a state title.
I think your right on PDBBALLFAN

Isn't sharing opinons the purpose of this forum? I didn't say anything that was inaccurate, so I'm curious about what facts you think I don't have straight. I don't need to put negative thoughts in any one's head. Most of the people on this forum are able to think for themselves. What's the problem? Did I hit a nerve?

Re: Canes have strength in reserve

I don’t know how Hampton does things, whether they ‘robbed’ other schools or not. I don’t even know if Heritage has done this in the past. But what i do know is that Heritage did NOT 'rob' anybody in this case. Every situation is unique and one just never knows what ‘ALL’ happens behind the scenes.
It comes down to a PARENT having to make a decision that is best for the well being of THEIR child. When the academic programs line up, when the sports line up and when you see your child smiling again and not dread being in an environment that doesn’t sink you into a depressed state or keep you in a shell, then you look back and say, ‘No matter what other people ‘perceive’ things to be, my child is happy again and doing well and that’s all that matters!’

Well said. Sounds like it comes straight from a parent who knows and has dealt with a similar circumstance.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
Regardless of the in's and out's good luck to Heritage and their all-star team anyway. If their goal was to create the ultimate team, with the ultimate goal, they are almost there. Best of luck you guys and I hear the future is just as bright too. Heritage has the best of the rest and the four year quest is almost over. Then they can reload and do it all over again and we'll have more to mull over. In the mean time go after that state title with all your gusto and bring it back to the PD!!!!

twiceasnice757, I'm glad to see someone else in the PD knows and sees what's going on and is not taking a blind eye and see what is going on as well as I can.
