Football: Kyle Neve resigns as Bruton's football coach
Neve resigns as Bruton's football coach By Lynn Burke | lburke@dailypress.com Kyle Neve, who served as Bruton's football coach for the past 15 years, has resigned. "It's just time," he said. "I had the feeling during the season last year, but I wanted to wait and make sure it wasn't a fleeting feeling. But the more and more I thought about it, now would be the time when I was getting geared up (for next fall), and it wasn't there." Neve's teams compiled an 82-75 record as the smallest school in the Bay Rivers District most years. He also went 4-6 at Surry County in his first year as a head coach in 1992. "The thing I’ll remember most is how tough the kids are," said Neve, who will stay at the school as a health, physical education and drivers ed teacher. "We were playing seven, eight, nine guys both ways and most of the other teams had two or three. That's amazing. People on the outside don't know how incredible the kids are." John Ashley is Bruton's first-year athletic director. "He’s going to be missed. He has been a major part of Bruton athletics over the last 15 years, as both an athletic director, a coach and a great teacher," said Ashley. "And he has done so much to bring the facilities up to (Group) AA standards during that time," said Ashley, who coached against Neve when he was football coach at York. Ashley said the school is accepting applications.

Re: Football: Kyle Neve resigns as Bruton's football coach
Kyle Neve is a good coach one of the best in the BRD and I am a big fan and if T MO or Lemn aren't the answer and Smithfield wants a coach that has years under his belt they should think about him but I would be happy with any of the three.
