Woodside 5 Menchville 4
menchville undefeated NO MORE!
woodside came out hitting strong against menchvilles shawn sizemore leading 3-1 alex washington and woodsides defense shut the monarchs down for most of the game. Matt armstead came in to relieve sizemore and woodside continued to hit. Menchville tied the game 4-4 in the top of the 7th and brought ethan carter in. Mike ruckman got on base and alex washington bunted him to second but an error by the monarchs sent ruckman all the way home winning the game for woodside 5-4. woodside did what no other pd team has been able to do BEAT MENCHVILLE! and i dont care who says oh menchville just had a bad game and blame it on errors woodside still got the "W" and menchville no longer has that undefated title. |

It was a great game for Woodside, hats off to them. They did all the right things at the right time. The boys from Menchville didn't give up, especially with the ebb and flow of the game seemingly in favor of Woodside the entire game. I think/know the biggest factor of the game that tipped the balance to Woodside was without a doubt coaching and game management. Woodside had great at bats, and made a living taking the ball the other way most of the game. There were numerous occasions of situational hitting where Menchville did not take advantage. AND why do you steal when you are down by one TWICE with the heart of the lineup at bat? One worked and one didn't. Oh did I mention there were no outs in the fifth when Sizemore was pegged and two out when Armstead was sent, down by one in the sixth? Why do you pull Armstead after pitching a good fifth then fanning two on six pitches and getting a pop out in the sixth and replace him with Carter? Carter is what he is, a great pitcher, but has been getting touched up in the first inning he pitches each game, settles in and pitches lights out. OK the vent is over, GREAT JOB Woodside. Menchville don't get down, you got snuck up on. Reflect, be pizzed, and move on. I would not want to be Heritage on Tuesday! |

Re: Woodside 5 Menchville 4
I watched this game and I agree with one of the posts about some of the coaching moves during this game. Coach Hare over at Woodside is a class act and very knowledgeable about the game. He definitely won this battle against the great coach in the purple and gold. However, it is not that big of a deal because Menchville is still the dominant team in the district. This coaching situation will haunt Menchville like it always does in the postseason. Mark my word. The king has spoken.

Re: Woodside 5 Menchville 4
King, I know we've battled in the past, but I'll give you credit. You nailed the coaching issue long ago. Props for that one! Good job Woodside, I hope you woke the beast.
