What a great game, congrats to Marisa Rongstad on a good goal - however, the refs once again were terrible- 3 fouls in the box by Lafayette with no call. The Eagles played very solid and obviously made Williams work hard in the goal which really hasn't happened much this year. There were at least 3 shots that she could have caught but instead chose to punch them over setting Jamestown up for corner kicks-not sure what that was about. Overall a good game on both sides.

maybe the fact that she is temporarely blind in one eye could be the fact that she wasnt catching them. Also i thought she got a little bored in goal and decided to fool around with jamestown just to get the crowd more into the game also. but who knows. good game jamestown.

Good game Lafayette!!!!

I said yesterday it would be a close game by only one point. So be careful not to brag how hot your team played. Jamestown may have drop to sixth place (we won't be there for long) in the distrct tonight, but we gave you a run for the money. It appears, Jamestown had more shots on goal and is the only district team so far to hold you to 1 point. Also, your goals per district game fell from 4.2 to 3.67. You do deserve the win because you found the net and Jamestown did not. Jamestown can hold its head high even through a lose because Jamestown is getting stronger as the season progresses. We still have our problems, but the kinks will eventually be worked out. Good play tonight by both teams.

As for the fans, I wish Lafayette did sit so close to the pressbox. I had just read on HRVarsity how nice the fans were from Lafayette at the Lafayette Tabb game. That may have been a sarcastic comment as I will have to play my tape with the sound turned down for most of the game to keep a “G” rating. The referees were typical for the games Jamestown has played. Bad calls for both sides so get over it. My daughter was fouled three times in the box and you never heard me correcting the referee. There were a few certified Bleacher Referees that kept the air full of accolades for the official referees running on the field. It was a little comical to listen to until after the second Lafayette player was yellow carded for pushing a Jamestown player to the ground. Maybe the politically correct way to say it was "to help perform a turf inspection up close and personal". The good sportsmanship dripping from a few of those Bleacher Referees complimenting their player for the fine job she did to merit that glorious yellow card inspired me to write this last paragraph. I will say the Lafayette fans didn’t really say anything derogatory towards Jamestown, but were focused solely on the officiating.

Again, Good game Lafayette Girls!!!

WOW- I cant believe the Lafayette AD and trainer let the keeper go out and play blind in one eye- what if she took a cleat or ball to the other eye? Good thing Jamestown didn't know that before the game they could have just launched all of their shots on her blind side.

Good effort by both teams- I think they will meet again in Districts

When the refs are making bad calls (or rather no calls) that could potentially cause injury, parents tend to get a bit upset. All anyone wants is a fairly called game and the refs have been doing a terrible job of it - doesn't matter which side you're on. Case in point (from the Bruton game) resulted in three of our players being hurt. Addie was taken off the field and straight to medical help because of a cleat to the face which the ref said was a 50-50 ball. You have got to be kidding me.
There was one yellow card against LHS last night (justified) not two. There was plenty of pushing in the back, hair pulling, and tripping that happened before the retaliation took place out of fustration. It is the refs job to use the whistle and control the game. If they don't the players will keep pushing the envelope until they do. That's the way the game is played - to the whistle.
By the way -there were no fouls in the box by LHS - the defender got all ball. Any contact was incidental. Don't detract from the skills of the player just because your kid got beat.
Kudos to both teams. You played with heart and fire and no one can take that away from you.
