I grew up on the Southside and was not familiar with Peninsula high school soccer until my kids got involved at Kecoughtan. I had heard about the school’s soccer history so I took the opportunity to inspect all of the championship photos from the many sports that are hanging on the walls of the school. I have heard the kids talk with pride about getting on their picture on the wall again. It made me wonder how often a Peninsula team had been Regional Champion. So here they are:
1978 - Kecoughtan
1982 - Kecoughtan
1986 - Kecoughtan
1994 - Lafayette
1995 - Lafayette
If anyone knows any of the players from these teams, please list them. I think It would be interesting to see. I would bet a few are still involved with soccer in one way or another.

The wall of honor - my son(s) are 2nd generation athletes to earn their place, my '71 baseball team is the first team picture.
There is pride in getting on the wall. We need KHSoldschool to fill in some KHS players. I think Coach Hughes is an '86.

I helped coach with Larry O'Connell years ago at PAA and I think he was class of 78, he now has a son Shaun playing at Grafton. Was Holleran part of one of those teams?

I could be wrong but I think Hollaran came after - in the era where Beach was dominate - like now.

Almost sure Hughes was on the '86 team. Hollaran was a '90 so no he was not on the '86 squad.

I believe one if not both of the Sullivan brothers was on that team.

When you get this old you can't remember who you went to school with...I'll have to go up in the attic and get my '78 annual. I think Alan Lindsey may have been on that team. He might have been a year before that though.

the '78 team was led by striker Pete Polonsky and squeaky clexton in goal.They were were coached by Don Lindsay ,alan's father...Franklin and Sean Holleran played on KHS teams that lost on penalties in the regions to the eventual state champs kempsville and cox.I think Sean and franklin never lost a PD game during as players.
