Boys soccer: WILLIAMSBURG CHRISTIAN 4, HAMPTON CHRISTIAN 3
Proviced by Jamie Knapp:
Hampton Christian High School Boys Soccer team hosted Williamsburg Christian Academy for Hampton’s second Metro Conference game of the season Monday September 15th. The first period opened with midfield battles ending in two breakaways that put a swarm of WCA players around the HCHS goal to put two back to back goals on the board. HCHS responded with a goal by Senior Haden Deibler taking a pass from Caleb Knapp followed minutes later by a penalty shot for goal taken by Haden Deibler, ending the first period 2-2. The HCHS Warriors gained control of the ball and quickly put another point on the third goal on the board with yet a third goal by Deibler who took a pass from Junior Ryan Burrows. The WCA Eagles traded goalies and with 7 minutes on the clock put a game tying goal in the net. Taking advantage of momentum, WCA put a fourth goal in the net to keep Hampton at bay for the final few minutes of play. WCA left HCHS with a 4-3 loss. The midfield was held together with strong marshalling by Captain Caleb Knapp directing attacks and plays from the key. Strong HCHS play from defenders Chris Hamlet and Joel Hollingsworth coupled with 9 saves by Keeper Ben Hewlett kept action hot but fell short in the end as the clock ran to zero.
