Down to the wire

There is little doubt that Denbigh, despite this past week's loss to Menchville, has the Peninsula District regular-season title in the bag. But what about the rest of the standings? Can Hampton, which beat Bethel on Wednesday, make a serious push for second? Who will win the battle for the sixth and final spot?

Once the tournament rolls around, who's the favorite? Would you rather play Denbigh, with its powerhouse pitching and timely hitting, or, say, Menchville, the defending regular-season and tournament champ which seems to be rounding into shape at just the right time?

Re: Down to the wire

menchville...can play good defense and get past their pitching staff...if you dont hit the ball you cant win against any team in the district...but you have a better chance of hitting menchville pitching and playing good defense, then playing denbigh and not hitting the ball and having to rely on their bats being off as well...which happens occasionally..but they usually come through in the clutch...i predict denbigh to be the favorite..just because of the all around team they are, but i also predict bethel coming through and playing denbigh in the championship game of the district tourny...

Re: Down to the wire

i dont think bethel will be in the championchip game because they are the #3 team. they will have to throw shivley against, say hampton, because they have to win that game. Then who will they throw against... Menchville in the semifinals. I see another Denbigh/ Menchville finals

Re: Down to the wire

i agree..i see a denbigh vs. menchville final..i wouldnt want to play denbigh just because of their pitching..here is how i see things shapin up
1 Denbigh
2 Menchville
3 Bethel
4 Hampton
5 Warwick
6 Gloucester
Bethel over Gloucester
Hampton over Warwick
Denbigh over Hampton
Menchville over Bethel
Denbigh over Menchvile
