Smithfield's "Packing" the football punch!

I know we're out of season, but who says it's too early to be thinking Bay Rivers District football???

I was at Smithfield the other day working on a baseball story and had a chance to stop by the weight room and check out the football players getting in shape.

WHEW!

They look like they may be ahead of the "Pack." OK, OK, that was corny, but you get the point.

So in the name of a good HRvarsity post, I've decided to give teams a jump-start on how to defend the talented Packers.

OK, so Packers' coach Chris Fraser let me in on the their top secret plans for next year. He told me not to disclose this information but for the general public, I said what the heck!

First they will.... ..... then Dyrell Roberts will... .... After that Damien Whitley will... ... And the key to that play will be when Randall Privette... .

Whew! Did you get all that?

Now that we know what the Packers will do every down of every game next season, who do you guys think will be strong?

The Clippers will undoubtedly raise their intensity with first-year coach Kevin Montini at the controls. He's pretty intense, in a very good way I'd say. Also we've got Tabb and Corey Legister bound to make a lot more than noise next year.

I want to know what you think? Let's have it.

Recruiting Tid-Bit
Virginia Tech head football coach Frank Beamer was at Smithfield Friday morning to visit with Dyrell Roberts, who has already been offered a schollie. Things went well, but not well enough for Roberts to end the recruiting process with a commitment. We'll keep ya posted!

definatly smithfield. this'll be their golden year becasue all their stars will be seniors and at their peak. tabb has got a good program running, those kids are looking really strong and really fast. so i look for them to make a pretty HUGE impact next year. lafeyette ALWAYS brings something to the field jsut cause they ahve such a good lifting program that theyve been doing for a while. Grafton is always a threat to these teams and itll be interesting to see what they do without thaxton or poutier. and from what im hearing on here it looks like jamestowns gonna come out underdogs and win a few big games.

And we said it the year before that, we stayed healthy that year, last year we had quite a few key injuries. If we can stay healthy this year, I truly believe that you're gonna see a pretty good football team in Smithfield, **** we may even be able to break that Southampton curse - LOL!
Gotta play 'em though, talking about it is the easy part.....putting it together for a successful season is the hard part.
