it was definitely an interesting week! to answer your question about the menchville v. phoebus game..both teams played hard for the entire game. I play for phoebus, and honestly both of our goals were earned. our first goal was a shot from outside the left side of the 18 that was straight over the goalie's head, she couldnt haave touched it. that was scored by jessica jones. our second goal, in the last minute of regulation play was a corner kick by alison phillips that was put right into the box and headed in beautifully by ezmerelda coes. the keeper coulndnt stop that one either. both of menchville's goals werent so great. the first one was unlucky on our part by the sun because when the ball was headed srtaight in the air our keeper, alyssa hodges could no longer see it, and when it came down it happened to fall on a menchville girl and she just poked it in the goal. the second one was a shot from the 18 that was straight to our keeper and she caught it, then somehow it fell out of her hands and rolled into the goal. needless to say we gave them that one. but i just wrote this to say that the score really doesn't display who dominated the game. Honestly Phoebus never gets much credit but we really deserve it after that game.

the gloucester DHS game was amazing. score was 3-1 in GHS favor at the half, but DHS came in with so much intensity it was completely impossible for GHS to keep up. both teams played a beautiful game of soccer and it's a shame that the dukes couldn't pull it out, but DHS deserves ti, with all of the work they've put in over the last few seasons, it'll be a great way for the DHS seniors to finish up their high school career but honestly, good game to both groups of girls.
